FESTIVAL PROGRAM

ROAD

The history of humankind is also the history of images.
Images are historical and social symptoms. They are objects with infinite potential, acquiring new meanings as the times and conditions into which they were born change. Women abandoned to the mercy of their fate beneath white headscarves, children deprived of the comfort of an ordinary life, or those whose lives are bounded by minefields for a few coins — through their struggles, they have become subjects who have brought closer the possibility of another kind of life.
Inspired by the film Yol, the Yol Exhibition was born from the effort to visualize the contemporary reflections of this possibility. With the awareness that every struggle is also a struggle over images, it seeks to read the film’s scene from a decolonial perspective. Liberating the image has been shaped as the main goal of the exhibition.
