Synopsis

Silent Dance tells the story of Eda Tavacı, Turkey’s first deaf ballerina, and her extraordinary relationship with sounds, music, people, and her body. It portrays the success story of a young woman who clings to life through dance, overcoming noise, entrenched habits, and deafness, emerging from a life filled with challenges and vulnerabilities.

Biography

 

She studied audiometry at Trakya University. She worked as an audiometrist in several health institutions. She worked as a camerawoman and a film editor in TV, and was the chief of production at the news desk. She organized cinema workshops. She taught on film editing. She supported and coordinated the production of many students’ film projects. In addition, she made several films, mostly documentaries.
