Synopsis

If the cowboy boot fits, wear it. The arrival of a stray horse triggers a series of events in Bernicia’s life that alters her world as she slowly takes on the persona of a cowboy. Throughout her journey, she must overcome several obstacles that threaten her newfound desire for independence. EL Vaquero is an uplifting film about self-determination.

Biography

 

Emma is an Australian writer, director and moving-image artist based between London, Chicago and Bogota. Emma completed her MFA in film directing under the mentorship of internationally acclaimed filmmaker Bela Tarr, at his Film Factory in Sarajevo. Her other Film Factory mentors include Cristian Mungiu, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Agnieszka Holand, Guy Maddin, Gus Van Sant and Carlos Reygadas.
