Synopsis
Rojîn, a heartbroken young woman who is suffering from depression after the disappearance of her fiancé, is preparing for her university entrance exam. If she fails, her father will force her into marriage. If she succeeds, however, she might lead a more emancipated life and avoid the fate of her older sister Şîlan, who is unhappily married to a conservative man who demands her to be a proper housewife.

Biography
Born in Iraqi Kurdistan in 1973, Şawkat Amîn Korkî and his family fled military oppression in 1975, living in exile in Iran for 24 years. During his years in Iran and upon returning to Iraqi Kurdistan, he began working in theater, television, and cinema. His short films, produced between 1997 and 2005, were showcased at various international festivals and won awards.
In 2006, Korkî wrote, directed, and produced his first feature film in Iraqi Kurdistan, Crossing the Dust. Şawkat Amîn Korkî’s other feature films include Kick Off (2009) and Memories on Stone (2014). His latest film, The Exam (2021), premiered at the 55th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and won the FIPRESCI critics award.
