Synopsis

Gukla is a psychological thriller and horror film that focuses on the sense of belonging to their city felt by three characters from different generations in İzmir, who coincidentally come together in an abandoned mansion. When Fatma Teyze moves into the abandoned mansion she encounters after her home is demolished due to urban transformation, she soon realizes that there are other entities in the house besides themselves.

Biography

 

Born in 1982 in İzmir, she completed her primary and secondary education in İzmir. She enrolled in the Cinema-TV Department of Dokuz Eylül University’s Faculty of Fine Arts in 2001, graduated with a degree in directing in 2005. In 2006, she began working at the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality’s Department of Culture and Arts. In 2007, she served as an assistant director for the theater play When My Country Is Shaved, the Whole World, an EU project by the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality. She was a member of the advisory board and jury at the 9th International Children’s Rights Film Festival. As a cinema coordinator at İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, she continues to work as a project coordinator for the Accessible İzmir National Short Film Competition, the “Yeniden Sinematek” film program that began in 2009 and is still ongoing, as well as various other cinema organizations.
